Scientific Name: Atelerix Albiventris

General Information: Hedgehogs originate from Senegal in western Africa to southern Somalia and Tanzania on the continent's eastern edge.

They are primarily nocturnal animals, but are usually okay with occasional playtime during the day as long as they are still given the appropriate amount of time to sleep.  The average lifespan is 4 - 7 years in captivity.  Adult size is approximately 6" long.

Hedgehogs are one of the easiest exotics to care for as long as you keep temperature in mind.  They require a temperature of 72 or higher.  Colder than 72 can result in death.  If your home stays cold, simply add a reptile heat light on top of their cage to keep them warm.

Diet: We feed a blend of food only available from our store.  It can be purchased in store, or on our website.
