Feeding Recommendation: Offer Opossum Complete daily as a staple diet to weaned opossum eating solid food (3 to 5 months or older). Supplement the diet with high-calcium vegetables (leafy greens, squash, sweet potato) and occasional protein sources such as insects, fish (with bones), eggs (with shell), or chicken. Adjust the amount fed to ensure optimum body weight. Always provide clean, fresh drinking water.
Opossums are one of the world's most variably sized mammals, therefore feeding recommendations vary. Opossums have a large appetite and a slow metabolism. If feeding free choice, carefully monitor their food intake while encouraging activity. If treating MBD, supplement the diet with Exotic Nutrition's Liquid Calcium Supplement.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place (under 72 °F). Refrigeration is highly recommended to retain full nutritional value. Store bag sealed, in an air-tight container free from pests and insects. Do not frequently expose food to a freeze/thaw cycle. If storing for longer than 8 weeks, refrigerate (up to 6 months). If storing for longer than 6 months, freeze (up to 12 months).
